Butterfly Cupcake | Original Painting | Framed

Butterfly Cupcake 🦋🧁

Some of our fondest memories are attached to food.

Butterfly Cupcake was inspired by my Granma and the farm where she lived, tucked away in a beautiful mountainous wilderness. Some of my happiest childhood memories were made there — baking in her kitchen, gardening, tending to the animals, and enjoying the particular kind of calm that seemed to settle over her home.

That calmness somehow made its way into her food, too.

I have no idea whether Granma invented butterfly cupcakes or discovered them on one of her trips into Town. But I don't remember ever seeing them at anyone else's house. To me, they were hers.

This painting is my tribute to those days: to childhood, home baking, and the ordinary little things that become precious memories before we even realise they will.

Created in acrylic on canvas, Butterfly Cupcake combines traditional and modern painting techniques, including brushes, glazes and cake decorating tools. The piped acrylic icing gives the cupcake a raised, sculptural texture, finished with colourful sprinkles and delicate details.
